Nonprofit Reserves, Q1 Investment Performance Review: What Happened, What Can we Learn, Where Do We Go from Here?
April 20, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Global stocks sank over the first quarter driven by the spread of COVID-19 and the near closing of the world economy. Stocks fell with unprecedented speed with the S&P 500 falling roughly 34% from a new market high in just 23 trading days. At the same time, bond markets became starved for liquidity and experienced significant volatility.
In this session we’ll explain what happened to the various markets, what we know now that we may not have before, and what actions nonprofits should be considering, such as: is it time to buy stocks, are bonds safe, should we rebalance, what sectors are the safest, and more.
Learning Objectives:
Nonprofit senior executive and finance staff will understand the historical significance of the Q1, 2020 market decline, if their investments performed differently that how they might have expected, why that happened and what they can do to mitigate surprises in the future.
