RIA Summer Update

No-I-in-Raffa-1024x768

Our team at RIA has had a fun-filled summer! We gathered our team from Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, and Atlanta, GA to meet in Washington, DC. There’s nothing like an adventurous, impromptu bike ride through the capital for team-building! Check out what else we’ve been up to!

DENNIS

Summer started with our oldest, Olivia, graduating high school – with Covid, which seemed fitting. She recovered in time for a trip to Sweden with a friend and will be spending her first fall semester in Thessaloniki, Greece with Northeastern’s international program. The rest of us spent the first part of the summer on Lake Winnipesaukee and in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire!

MARK

My family and I lived outside of Annapolis in a summer community where my kids went to the same camp I went to when I was growing up.  It was non-stop activity all summer with lots of time in the pool and river, on the tennis and pickle ball courts, and golf course.  I took my kids to their first Orioles game and we also made a trip down to Rehoboth Beach.

RYAN

My summer started off with a trip to Carbondale, CO where I had a run in with a wolf that made for a harrowing hike (if you haven’t heard the story, reach out!). My summer has been full of weddings, live music, and golf with something going on almost every weekend. I summited my first 14er (a 14,000 ft tall mountain) – Mt. Sneffels outside of Telluride. My girlfriend and I traveled to France and Italy for my best friend’s wedding, which was spectacular. We were able to take two weeks off and visited Paris, stayed at a Chateau, went to Lake Como, and spent a few nights in Milan. I’m wrapping up August with two weddings and a trip to DC so things remain busy! I’m looking forward to some cooler weather and the return of ski season here in Denver.

JOE

Over the summer our family enjoyed our annual camping trip to Wisconsin. We had great baseball and softball seasons and got to go to a White Sox game. We also spent time around the fire in our back yard making s’mores.

WENDY

On July 4th, I ran in the world’s largest 10k race and completed my fourth Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. I also resumed my summer camp counselor duties in Toronto after a three-year break due to Covid. I dusted off my bow and arrow to get back out on the archery range. Before the season was over, I made it to the farm and picked enough strawberries for a small army!

MATT

Shortly after joining Raffa in April of this year, Matt kicked off his summer by completing his first half marathon, running along the scenic C&O Canal in Georgetown. Outside of work, Matt likes to take advantage of the summer weather and stay active by playing golf, pickleball, and pickup basketball with his friends. He also enjoyed some travel this summer too, visiting family in San Diego, spending a couple long weekends at Deep Creek Lake and Ocean City, and is looking forward to spending a week at the Jersey shore to wrap up his summer. Matt is also preparing for the Series 65 Exam in order to become an investment adviser representative of RIA.
