Dennis Gogarty, CFP®
President & Co-Founder
Dennis Gogarty is President and Co-Founder of Raffa Investment Advisers and has led the firm since its inception more than 20 years ago. He founded Raffa with a clear objective: to provide nonprofit organizations and membership associations with disciplined, transparent, fiduciary-focused investment advisory services designed specifically for their governance structures and long-term sustainability.
As President, he sets the firm’s strategic direction and standards for client experience. His leadership emphasizes disciplined policy alignment, consistency with market expectations, and clear accountability. Dennis believes nonprofit investment programs should prioritize reliability, transparency, and fiduciary oversight over unnecessary complexity or tactical experimentation.
Under his leadership, Raffa has grown to serve more than 188 nonprofit organizations nationwide, maintaining a 99.1 percent 10-year nonprofit client retention rate¹. He remains deeply involved in shaping the firm’s culture, with an emphasis on professional development, high standards, and responsiveness, creating an environment that supports consistent, high-quality service for clients.
An active participant in the nonprofit and association community, Dennis has spoken on governance, fiduciary oversight, and nonprofit investing for organizations including the Council on Foundations, the AICPA, the Greater Washington Society of CPAs, BoardSource, and the American Society of Association Executives. He has also served in leadership and advisory roles supporting nonprofit boards and investment committees.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Frostburg State University and a Certificate in Financial Planning from Georgetown University. Dennis is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional and an investment adviser representative of Raffa Investment Advisers.

Clients with whom Raffa initiated the termination of services with are not counted as terminated clients for purposes of calculating the retention rate.
